The club was established in January 2024 from the germ of an idea that came to two of the club's organisers, Tim Willbond and Tim Sisson, in the audience at the "We Have Ways of Making you Talk" Festival in 2023.
The club generally now meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month (sometimes the third) at Leadenham Village Hall, LN5 0QB.
Doors usually open at 7pm for a 7.15/7.30 start.
Who We Are
The founders and organisers of the club are Tim Willbond, Group Captain, R.A.F. (retired); Mike Whitwham, Flight Lieutenant, R.A.F. (full time reserve); and Tim Sisson, Flight Sergeant, R.A.F. Nottingham High School Combined Cadet Force, (1979).
There is no formal membership requirement; if you have an interest in military history and would like to attend, we will be glad to see you. See our "Events" page for information on forthcoming presentations and other events. A small charge is made for attendance at our meetings, to cover costs and to put towards future events and expenses.
We are ALWAYS on the lookout for future presenters. If you would like to make a full presentation, or just to bring along something interesting and talk about it for ten minutes, PLEASE get in touch. You're better than you think!
Perhaps you do not want to present, but there is a subject on which you would like to see a presentation; if so, do please get in touch.
Mike will relieve you of your entrance fee with a smile, and a hint of underlying menace. Our resident expert on RAF Cranwell, he's been in the RAF longer than any other living person
Secretary
Tim is our secretary, treasurer, and all round dogsbody. He's recently delivered a presentation on RAF Habbaniya and is contemplating next year's subject
If you would like to help out with the club and its activities, whether helping to plan its activities, presenting a talk, or just putting out chairs, your help will be welcomed. Please email milhistory@btinternet.com
